Fashion Friday

Way, way back in April of 1949, Ray and I went to a dance in Galesburg at the extension of the University of Illinois where he attended school for one year. Ray is all smiles in his good looking suit, tie and the flower on his lapel. Carol is wearing a pretty white eyelet dress with a scooped neckline and short sleeves. A white necklace and earrings and a pretty corsage complete her outfit. Kind of a cute couple. We were married in September of that year - 61 years ago.
The band that played for that dance was Desi Arnaz - and here is his autograph on the dancecard. I don't actually remember much about that dance but Ray and I always had a great time and did quite a bit of dancing during our life together. (Click to enlarge)

What a handsome couple. I love your dress, nice full skirt. I wish my DH had liked to dance more. I loved to dance. I even went square dancing in high school. Desi Arnez--how cool. I love Fashion Friday!

Beautiful! What a happy memory, with Desi even! I love the dress, Carol,it is so pretty in eyelet. My mom wore one like it in a brown shirting plaid, and I thought she was gorgeous. You made a handsome couple.

wow dance card, that is when things were done properly. Now days the girls just walk up and ask the boys to dance, even in my day that was a no no. I guess our little ones don't recognize such formalities. It made it tough raising 3 kids with these modern day rules that kids play by. I still insist on the old fashioned behaviors. Boys always open the car door for a lady and they must always walk their girl to the door at the end of an evening, that drop them off in the driveway thing just doesn't work for Leif and I. Oh well, I guess parenting is only as hard as you make it, huh!
