Christmas Treasure

Debating this year how much to decorate - seems I do less each year but whatever I bring up from the basement has to be returned!  The last three years or so I have just put a swag of lights on my fireplace and decorated the mantel and that is cheery without too much putting things away in order to get my Christmas things out.  To add to the reasons not to go overboard is the fact that we will be going to Chicago to Norah and Chad's and be with all the family but our Hannah in Mozambique.  I have a skinny little tree entirely decorated and covered in plastic in the basement but I think it will stay there again this year.  If I yearn for a lighted tree, I will go down and plug it in!  Just kidding, of course.  However, one thing is certain, this beautiful crossstitch that my husband did lots of years ago will hang in the living room.  His stitches are incredibly small and just beautiful.  This is a piece to be treasured forever.  (Click to enlarge)

The stitchery is beautiful. The animals are wonderful. I'm so impressed that your husband did it. That is way cool. The frame sets it off very nicely. I'm not much of a Christmas decorator and it's way too early for me. I don't decorate until after the 15th and then it is pretty simple. I don't like to spread the holiday out for weeks. I'm amazed by all the people who put their tree up "before" Thanksgiving. I think it's wonderful that you will all be together for Christmas. I'm sure Hannah will be missed.

Carol, you are right it is just a wonderful piece. How special, and so very nice to get out and look at. That was a very nice hobby for him in is retirement.

I just received an e-mail from one of my followers saying there was something wrong with my blog. He couldn't leave a comment and there appeared to be a gray screen over the entire blog. I don't see that and I was just checking to see if I could leave a comment. Strange.

I seem to put out less and less decorations each year too. Beautiful cross-stitch!

This is a true treasure for sure. Counted Cross Stitch is a very time consuming project and this looks very detailed. Neat that you have taken such good care of this "special" Santa.

Thanks for sharing, Carolyn
