Where's Midland Anyway?

I had a little adventure yesterday! Decided to take a little trip out to the mall and do some shopping. I used to do that on a regular basis, but notsomuch anymore. On the way home I took Diamond Drive - which I have done many times. This time there was a detour after a distance and I followed the detour signs - or at least I thought I did! I kept going and going and eventually I figured I should be getting close to home. Nothing familiar anywhere. I finally stopped and pulled into a driveway and there was a young fellow there. I was going the wrong direction and he got me back on the right track. So turned around and headed back. This time I evidently took the detour turns right since, although it did take quite a while I eventually ended up on the rode to home! Hallelujah! What a strange feeling to wonder where in the heck you are when you know you can't be that far away from your destination. I have no idea where I was!! One good thing that came out of it was that my little old car (17 year old Chevie Prism) was probably enjoying itself running at 55 miles an hour for some lengths of time instead of putting around at 30 and 35 mph in town. It was probably kind of pooped when we got home! Enjoying this fallish weather to the fullest! My favorite time of year.

Some Flack from my Family

I have been so lax with my blog for a long time now after posting quite regularly for quite a few years! My family has let me know that they don't think that is right! Also, I have actually had e-mails from people who read my blog wondering where I have been. It makes me feel guilty (in a good way) and the only reason I can think of for straying from the blogging is that I have done it for so long. However, I am going to give it another try and see if I can actually keep it up by posting at least once a week! I won't try to get everything is the first post. Will wait until next time to post some pictures of the four adorable little great-grandchildren I now have. Henry and Lauren are Norah's little ones and Annie and Turner call Molly mommy. Hannah has her news, also! She and Ian became engaged this summer and are planning a wedding in August of 2016! What a fun rime to look forward to. They will be married in Madison, Wisconsin, which is Ian's home town. A fun time to look forward to next summer! Ian will now be my third grandson-in-law--and all three of them are great guys. I turned 87 lat week. One of the older oldies now for sure. Goodness, where did all that time go and so quickly. I have been so blessed healthwise in my lifetime and in so many other ways, also. Will post this now with the intention of doing another post in a few days. Let's see if I can follow through!!

Hi from Funoldhag!

For some reason or other, I have not been posting to this blog regularly as in the past!  The other night when I went to our guild meeting, several of the girls gently chided me on that fact and I have also had e-mails from some of the nice people who follow my blog.  Firt of all, it makes me feel so good that people actually read what I write and I thank them for that.  Next, I am doing great after the bout last winter--feeling like my old self and not having any problems.  It's a fact that I don't get as much done as I used to, but creeping up on 87 explains that.   I feel blessed that I can do what I do at this age!!!

All is actually going very well.  Would post some new pictures of my little greatgrandbabies but cannot bring pictures into this form and will do it from another one soon.  They are growing and cute as buttons, of course.

Things are finally turning very green here in Michigan.  The grass greened up earlier but the trees and bushes are just not showing green so really looking like springtime.  Think everyone is ready for it to arrive.

Will try not to wait so long between posts!!!  Good wishes to all of you out there!!

Sun's Out

Looks a lot nicer outside with the sun shining!!  Hope it continues to shine today as that makes things look so much brighter.  All  is well at my house.  I am feeling good and getting along a-okay.  In about a month now, it will be spring!!  And we are still due for our January thaw so maybe that will come in March, too.

Little Turner will be a whole week old today!  I'm sure they are settling into a routine - sort of - out there in Portland with the new little family member.  There have been some cute pictures come through of the two sweetie pies in Denver, also.  Will have to go back through the texts and put the pictures where I can get them into a post.   Have been kind of lazy about doing that lately.  A little case of the winter blahs, maybe.  I am sure we are all afflicted with that to some extent.

Hope the sun shines on you, too!!!!

A Visit to the Doctor

Yesterday I went to see my doctor and came away feeling good at what he told me.  I can actually do away with the oxygen in the daytime but will stay on it at night.  That is what I had been doing for the last couple of years and it's god to get back to that.  Naturally, I will keep monitoring my levels but this is such a good stgep forward.  I will be going to see the kidney specialist in March and we will see what he has to say, also. I really like my doctor - he is yhoung (cute, too) and spends time explaining things without being in a hurry to get away.  Will keep on with my exercises and doing what I am supposed to be doing and continue to get myh strength back.  Think I will start doing a couple of stairsteps a day up and down and work on that gradually.

Still waiting for the weather to moderate and this bitter cold to go away.  It will eventually, I am sure.  We need a January thaw in February!!  Don't know that we had one in January!

Stay warm!!!!  Spring will come one of these days!!!!

Annie has a New Little Brother

Such a happy day!!  Sunday evening around 7:30 p.m. Michigan time, a new little boy was born in Portland, Oregon, to Molly and Doug.  His name is Turner Barclay - he takes his Grandpa Goff's name as his middle name, much to Barclay's surprise and joy.  Turner joins Annie, his big sister, to be in the loving care of their parents.  Needless to say, all family members on both sides are overjoyed and Turner, Annie, Molly and Doug are surrounded by so much love from both sides of their families.   His Aunt Hannah, who is about halfway through her nurse's training, was there as dula.

Welcome, beautiful little baby boy!!  We love you all so very much.

Happy Valentine's Day from Funoldhag

Know you've seen this before, but thought it was a good red and white picture to have on this Valentine's Day.  Hope you and yours have a great day!

Our weather is just about as terrible as it can get.  Wind chill is supposed to be way down there tonight.  How good it will be when this weather has gone on and been replaced with some balmier air!   All is well at my house--doing my exercises and eating right.  First part of the week coming up will be busy and I hope it isn't as cold.

Until next time stay warm!!!!!   Funoldhag

Baby, It's Cold Outside

Wow!  What a wicked winter!   Cold, cold, cold and windy--not a good combination.  However sun is shining in the front of my house so it doesn't look that bad.  Surely it will moderate soon.

Again, just a few words to let you know that I continue to get stronger as I do my exercises.  The physical therapist was here today with another set and I can mix up the ones that I do.  I do have another issue that is being addressed and will know more about that the first part of next week.  I am feeling good, though.

Waiting for the new little one in Portland to arrive pretty much any day.  Maybe a little Valentine?

Stay warm if you're where the cold is!!!!!     Funoldhag

Cold, but Sun is Shining

That's really an improvement!!  Looking out and seeing the sun is a very nice change.  All is going well here at my house.  I am doing my exercises and did a little housewalking today.  Yesterday, I got out for a while to go give blood.  My son-in-law took me - then I had him stop at the DQ and I had myself a nice chocolate malt!!  How about that?  Tasted yummy!  Drank about half of it yesterday then froze it and did away with the rest today.  Love those things but don't have one vey often.

Certainly in need of a haircut!  Sherry was going to check with the girl we go to today when she has her hair done and see if she can get me in on Monday which Sher has off.  Really look like an oldhag!

When I came in the front door yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised that that last step was so much easier than it had been the last time.  Guess those exercises are paying off.  Today has been a rather quiet one with no nurses or physical therapists coming in.  That is about to wind up anyway, I think.  I am hoping when the weather moderates (it is bound to ;one of these days) that I will be able to make one of our Sit and Sews and other outings.  The only bugaboo is the oxygen tank but that lasts for about four hours I think so that should take care of most outings for me.

On my menu tonight is another bowl of our veggie soup!!  Gets better by the day.  I froze two servings in ziplock bags and that worked out well.   For tomorrow night, I have some of Sher's good lasagna thawing in the fridge and I'll make a lettuc salad to go with it.  Eating pretty darned good, I would say!

See you later!!  Carol

What's Going On at My House

A quick update on Funoldhag.  I contine to get stronger and am working hard at it.  My day goes by so quickly with lots of things to do such as exercise, a little housekeeping, everyday paperwork, etc., etc.  Also a nurse comes every so often and a physical therapist.  All that is what will get me back in the world!!

Sherry wanted to know this morning if I wanted to work as a team on a big pan of veggie soup!!  Wow, yes, I do!  That sounds so good  We will do that Sunday.  That soup will be like money in the bank for all of us!!

Today she will get my laundry and groceries.  Have been doing well in the food department and am eating so much better than I did!!!  Can you believe I haven't had hardly any ice cream?  Attagirl, Carol!

Now I have some checks to write so will sign off here.  Hope you all have a good weekend.  It's going to be a much milder day here today than we have had.  Cold weather will be back late next week, I guess, maybe hopefully for the last time.  What weird weather!

See you later!!!  Carol

Home for Almost a Week Now

I am sorry I have not posted anything else since I have been home.  I am doing well and seems like I am keeping busy getting caught up on things and with visits from home care, etc.  So happy to say that I am able to completely take personal care of myself and to do odds and ends around home.  I have a shower seat  in the bathtub and take a "bath" that way.  Miss sitting in the deep warm water of my tub but that won't happen anymore.  Everything changes, doesn't it?   And we have to accept that fact.   Naturally, I am also no speed demon and take timeouts to rejuvenate.  So will take it slow and steady!  I see my family doctor today and am anxious to talk to him.  Lots of questions to ask.

News on the greatgrandchild front--Annie's little baby brother is due within the next week.  Henry and Lauren are thriving.  Henry has gone skiing with his daddy a couple of times.  He will be a skier for sure.  Lauren is walking all over the place and such a happy little girl.

My daughter, Sherry, and her Barc have been taking such good care of  me.   I love and appreciate them like you can't believe!  And I am so thankful to all who have made comments, sent cards, have me in your thoughts and prayers.  It means so much.  I have also had some yummy food brought in and thanks so much for that.  There is one soup that was super delicious  that I wish I had the recipe for.  It came with chocolate cookies!

Later on have some long posts to write and want to get back to putting in some pictures, too, so you have something to look at!!   We need color in our lives!

Home Sweet Home

A quick post to let you know that I am now at home!!!!  It will probably be a while before I am out and about but just being here is sweet.  Will make appointment to see my doctor the first of next week and am anxious to talk to him.  Moving around well but not fast.  Fixed my breakfast this morning before what will probably be a busy day.  I have the oxygen people coming and someone from home health care is supposed to come and help me with puttiing some things away.  Slept well in my own cozy bed.  Will be posting more later -  Funoldhag    Carol

Hi from fun oldhag

didn't get post up yesterday. Seems like time flies - lots going on and a lot of hurry up and wait. Have had therapy every day ad think am doing great on that. Will actually go home for in. home evaluation tomorrow but have to come back. Hoping after that the next time back won't be too long.  Wish I could be on my big computer and type normally. Hunting and pecking is hard!  When I go home I want to stay there and not have to return.  I took a selfie yesterday but haven't figured out how to get it on post. Was elated to have shower and shampoo yesterday!      I thank you for your nice words and thoughts of me.  This blogging has always been a fun  thing for me to do.  Funoldhag
